About Me

A short story -

22 years ago I smoked 40 cigarettes a day, I could barely climb the stairs without coughing. I noticed I had pain in my chest if I did any kind of moderate exercise, had nicotine stained fingers, I needed to wake up with a cigarette and go to sleep with one. They ruled my daily life, they were costing me a fortune and - I wanted to give up!

I tried and repeatedly failed. In fact I found I could barely last 2 hours without caving in and having yet another cigarette.

I tried patches, will power, chewing gum, more will power, plastic pretend cigarettes and even more will power. I was truly addicted and I needed help. What I needed was a boost to my will power; something that could help my own will power to over ride the nicotine cravings.

I knew I truly wanted to quit, it was just that my addiction to nicotine was stronger than my will power.

So - I tried hypnotherapy.

I was sceptical, cynical, and unsure.

I attended one session and I have never smoked again.

How did it work? Was it magic? No it was hypnotherapy - simple hypnosis.

To begin with -

The therapist discussed when and why I smoked, what were the triggers that made me reach for the cigarette. He explained about hypnotherapy, how I would always be aware, in control and how the trance would be a relaxing experience.

He then put me into a trance; relaxing in a large leather chair I listened to his calm reassuring voice. I wasn't asleep, I wasn't trapped or locked into the chair, I could hear everything surrounding me, I was fully aware of what was going on, I was just very relaxed, comfortable and I felt safe.

I left that therapist that afternoon and I have never smoked a cigarette or anything else since. That was 22 years ago - 22 years as a non smoker!

This experience was so life changing that I needed to know more. I read about hypnotherapy, I researched its history, its origins, attended some courses and when I came to change career it seemed the obvious choice.

I trained with the prestigious BST Foundation under the tutorage of Gavin Emmerson at the Royal School of Tropical Medicine, Bedford Square, London. I am now a member of the society of Brief strategic therapists. I am also fully CRB/police checked enabling me to work with children and young people, and affording further reassurance to clients. I worked for many years in law enforcement dealing with sexual offences and child protection. I am bound by a strict code of ethics being a member of the Society of Brief stategic therapists and always work in a non judgemental confidential manner.

Hypnotherapy can help with other problems such as weight loss, cravings, anxiety, stress, phobias, insomnia, confidence, nail biting, and public speaking,
